EPISODE IN BRIEF
After a heartbreaking and critical fortnight of weather up and down the East
Coast, our attention turns to the clean-up and support of family and friends.
We’ve seen distraught, stoic business owners step up to assist, supply or feed their life-blood, their community. Those fortunate to be high and dry (and even those who weren’t) shifted their perspective, their purpose… as the rains fell and dam levels rose.
Today, Nick and Chris circle back to the vital pivot of mindset.
How shifting your perspective can change the way your business runs
regardless of internal or external weather.
Here comes another timely and positive chapter in changing mindset with the best in the business….. enjoy….
Time Code/Show Notes
0.26 Change the trajectory of your business by shifting your
mindset.
2.00 No one actively wakes up with a negative perspective.
Chris begins by sharing first-hand experience during the
flood clean up in Tumbulgum; real devastation that
fell through the cracks while the country focused on Brisbane
and Lismore.
5.15 Witnessing events firsthand, on the ground, will change your
perspective of the roles played by the community and what is
required from the government in a crisis. When perspective
changes, you will change the way you think and act. Gratitude
comes to the fore.
9.20 Nick relates a story of a negative attitude. We must avoid defeatist perspectives from permeating our conversations
and relationships.
12.00 Firstly, recognition – accept that you are in a negative
state; is your external environment super negative (colleagues,
friends, family?) … sometimes your externals can be so influential, it’s no surprise your business head is not in the right
space.
14.30 Is the negative voice louder? Is it internal… are you stuck in an
eternal loop of negativity? Do you feel that the world owes you a
favour? This is a slippery slope…
It’s hard to have an attitude of gratitude when you are in this
spiral.
17.30 Can you recognise your thought patterns? Are they negative?
Do you always feel that someone is trying to rip you off? Nick
believes that when projecting negativity, it will, eventually find
you. Self-fulfilling anger issues are dangerous.
19.15 Reconciliation – the breakaway, the step towards changing your
mindset comes after recognising the spiral. Step away from
those who bring you down, emotionally.
Change the topic. Don’t be drawn in. Make the decision to
change your habitual negative persona.
22.15 After the “turning point”, Nick explains the importance of
recalibration.
How do you recalibrate your new “set-point”?
Don’t put yourself in situations where you going to feel negative.
Adopt an attitude of gratitude – instead of expectation.
Externally, change the place or people you hang out with.
24.15 Change up the clutter – you have to de-clutter your internal
thought processes to allow new positive thinking patterns to
thrive.
